Bantry Bay at a glance
Bantry Bay is an upscale enclave set on the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean. It is located on the slopes of Lion's Head, with a rocky shoreline in the background. Because of the spectacular sunsets and ideal positioning, property at Bantry Bay is in high demand. It is one of the few areas in Cape Town that receives the most wind protection due to its location.
Botany Bay was the original name for Bantry Bay, which was named after a botanical garden that was built here to grow medicinal plants. Charles Darwin made significant geological findings of the nature and beginnings of granite while visiting this site. During World War I, the name was changed.
