Mouille Point at a glance
Mouille Point is a small suburb with only two major roadways (Beach Road and Bay Road). It is dominated by high-end apartment buildings that appeal to individuals seeking a beach lifestyle with a city setting.
The Mouille Point promenade is located in the area, and beyond it is the Green Point Common, which includes various playing fields and a golf course. Mouille Point is noted for its upscale seafood restaurants and beachside steakhouses. Families go to Blue Train Park, which has an ice rink and a miniature railway.
On April 12, 1824, the Green Point Lighthouse on Mouille Point was illuminated for the first time. The lighthouse was the first substantial lighthouse construction on the South African coast, as well as the country's oldest working lighthouse.
